5-25-10My last
German Shepherd Dog
died in May 2009 and I am
finally ready, and eager, to
purchase or adopt another
one. As I don't think I
have it in me to raise
another puppy, I am looking
for a wonderful adult GSD
(age 1-4 years).
I work out of my home and
would be with the dog
essentially all the time. I
am very attracted to the
intelligence, devotion, and
nobility of the breed. I
have always had a very
strong bond with my dogs and
would like another "velcro"
dog, who will happily be by
my side at all times.
My husband and I live in
Philadelphia and also have a
vacation house in the
mountains that we visit
frequently and which is a
great place for both people
and dogs. We are very
active and enjoy exercising
(especially jogging) with
our dogs. I would,
however, like a GSD who is
calm enough to lie by my
side while I work. Our
children are grown and out
of the house (no
grandchildren yet) and we
have one 14 year old female
cat, who is tolerant of
dogs.
I have approached some
GSD rescue organizations,
both because I am
sympathetic to their mission
and am interested in finding
a dog beyond the puppy
stage. Unfortunately, every
rescue dog we have met so
far has had a problem with
aggression. I appreciate
and value the intensity of
German Shepherds, but
I do not want a dog who
needs to be crated every
time we have a visitor and
who can not be safely walked
down the street when
encountering other people
and dogs.
